Bashir Hanif, MD, FSCAI | SCAI

I graduated from Aga Khan University (AKU) Karachi, Pakistan in 1991. After my internship at AKU, I completed my residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology at SUNY at Stony Brook, New York.  I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular CTA.  

I worked in a cardiology group practice in Hamilton New Jersey for 4 years before moving to Pakistan in August 2004 to set up a state of the art 170 beds not for profit cardiac hospital -Tabba Heart institute (THI) on International standards.  I have been the founding Medical Director and Chief of Cardiology at THI since 2004. Currently I am also Executive Director of the THI as well.

Today THI has become one of the most successful and busiest private heart institutes in Pakistan with PCI volumes over 1500 per year and open-heart surgeries over 1400 per year. I have also the honor of establishing first of its kind general and interventional cardiology fellowship program on American standards at THI.

I have over 40 publications in national and international journals. I perform complex coronary and peripheral interventions including below knee CLI interventions as well as structural heart disease interventions. I am currently the President, Pakistan Society of Interventional Cardiology and Secretary, Faculty of Cardiology for College of Physicians, Pakistan (CPSP). I am also Board Member of Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology. I am also Medical Director for Heartbeat International Pakistan – NGO providing free pacemakers for indigent patients in Pakistan.  We have an active general cardiology and interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at THI. I have started Cardiac Registry of Pakistan (CROP) and currently serving as National Director for Cardiac Registry of Pakistan.
