Ms. Dea serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). During her tenure with SCAI the organization has seen some significant changes including a 300% increase in staff, 30% increase in membership, implementation of a strategic plan, deployment a new membership database and 4 supporting software systems, revised bylaws, restructured committee structure, and roles, moved office headquarters, redesigned organization logo, expanded international presence and reinvigorated industry support.
Ms. Dea served as the Executive Director for The Obesity Society (TOS) 2009-2016. During her tenure with TOS, several new programs were developed including Treat Obesity Seriously an awareness campaign, National Obesity Care Week, the Obesity Care Advocacy Network to coordinate 35+ organizations reaching legislators and regulators, and doubled annual revenue and increased scientific meeting attendance 140+%.
Prior to moving to The Obesity Society, Ms. Dea was an independent consultant founding Gordian Solutions, LLC, supporting nonprofits and small businesses. For nearly 10 years she worked as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), an established membership association with 70,000 members and the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE) supported by more than 120 of the leading insurance companies. She also worked in media relations/communications and marketing positions at the Cellular Telecommunications Internet Association (CTIA), BellSouth MobileComm, and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).
She serves as President-Elect to the Dickinson College Alumni Council and a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dickinson College, an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, and is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
