In the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rule, CMS provided an impact table to show the effects of the proposed changes by specialty. However, the table does not break down cardiology and presents an inaccurate picture of the cuts that will affect interventional cardiology.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has produced a more granular impact table, showing the actual impact on interventional cardiology to be a 3 percent cut over 2024. SCAI continues to advocate with Congress to alleviate these cuts and reform physician payment under the Medicare program.
