SCAI Position Statement on Adult Congenital Cardiac Interventional Training, Competencies and Organizational Recommendations

Position Statement Training

Endorsed by the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA)

The growing number and complexity of ACHD interventional procedures necessitate the development of ACHD‐specific plans and processes for the delivery of high‐quality, comprehensive interventional care. Adequate training of future specialists is key and should be inclusive of both adult and pediatric specialists. Moreover, it is imperative that care for this population be delivered by multidisciplinary teams that combine adult and pediatric expertise in a symbiotic and collaborative manner.

This statement provides recommendations for duration of training, training environment, procedural volume, ongoing education, and the structural/congenital partnership.
