Education Specialist

Unbiased, peer-supported continuing education is vital for interventional cardiologists to ensure access to the latest research, new technologies, and best practices to achieve better patient outcomes as the field constantly changes and evolves. As the Education Specialist for SCAI, you will create engaging virtual learning experiences for interventional cardiologists and the heart-care team, supporting improved patient care and public health worldwide.

You will report to and work closely with the Assistant Director of Education and collaborate with members, subject matter experts, vendors, leadership, and staff across SCAI to produce impactful content that showcases SCAI’s excellence in education. With guidance from past success, your primary focus is to produce and manage all aspects of 2–3 educational programs monthly for SCAI’s Online Learning Center, including live event production, multimedia management and course creation in our learning management system, drafting associated written and presentation materials, running reports, managing approvals, and providing customer support to participants. You will also maintain our Conference Library, ensuring this product provides continued value for member physicians.

Exemplary attention to detail while maintaining service-oriented professionalism in working with physicians, staff, and other stakeholders will be central to your success. This role leads on established educational products, and we welcome your innovation to ensure SCAI remains the leading resource for education to support interventional cardiologists worldwide.

How You’ll Make an Impact

SCAI’s educational activities reach tens of thousands of learners annually. You will keep our programs cutting edge, monitor enduring content for multi-year performance, and identify innovative ideas for program delivery. Primary focus areas include:

  • Multimedia Content Management and Publishing. Manage the production of multimedia materials for the SCAI learning management system (LMS), testing, monitoring, preparing reports, and collaborating across departments with colleagues.
  • Lead Producer for Webinars. Manage production of webinars, including Education Committee approval, faculty coordination, LMS setup, marketing coordination, writing copy and educational objectives, producing live webinars, and creating and publishing enduring content. Cross-train other staff on webinar production and ensure quality live events.
  • Day-to-Day Operations of the LMS. This includes creating courses, categorizing content, and optimizing the platform to engage with SCAI learners. You are the first point of contact for staff and are the primary liaison to the vendor, OASIS.
  • Maintain the SCAI Conference Library. You are the first point of contact for members and staff who have questions about the system and the primary liaison to the vendor, Confex, for this product. Engage with finance around product sales. Optimize the Conference Library to engage with SCAI learners.

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits

  • This role is fully remote, with the option of a compressed schedule after one year. Travel up to 5%. Must be available to work 1–2 hours in the evenings (5:00–8:00 pm ET) for committee calls and webinars (about 15% of the workdays per year). SCAI employees gather in person three times per year for staff retreats, and travel costs are covered by the society.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Surveys and evaluations. Build and implement surveys related to the education department, including testing, distribution, version control, formatting, and creating reports. Using survey platforms, develop, disseminate, and collect evaluation forms, survey instruments, and other formal and informal feedback to determine SCAI’s success in meeting its program objectives.
  • Cases: Manage the Challenging Cases and CardioQuiz products. Monitor case views and recommend improvements.
  • Co-Providership Programs. Manage approval process and payment through appropriate staff and Education Committee for submitted co-providership programs. Monitor product performance and track cosponsor's deliverables.
  • ACCME Compliance. Follow SCAI CME procedures; collect and maintain essential paperwork for ACCME accreditation; create evaluations and certificate templates for educational activities.
  • Assist in-person program production. Create copy, draft PowerPoints, and produce other written materials to support in-person program production. Process payment and honoraria for assigned subject matter experts. Assist the program team in faculty data management for flagship meetings.
  • Education customer service. Assist members in the Speaker Ready Room at SCAI Flagship meeting and other meeting duties as assigned. Answer telephone and email inquiries related to SCAI’s educational offerings.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience developing online education programs or coordinating meetings, ideally within a nonprofit or association setting.
  • Experience collaborating with medical professionals is highly desirable but not required.
  • Professional experience working with content/learning management systems.
  • Experience following procedures, particularly related to records management.
