SCAI has developed a calendar of events and educational opportunities for interventional cardiology fellows-in-training which reinforces the knowledge and skills gained during fellowship.
The year begins with applying for free SCAI membership once accepted into a training program, continues with online Interventional Fellows Essentials, and in-person Fellows Courses in December, and concludes in May with an intensive final preparation for the transition to attending at the Fellows Summit for Complex Cases at SCAI's annual Scientific Sessions.
Free SCAI Membership
Fellow-in-training (FIT) membership is open to physicians in good standing that have been accepted into or are participating in an accredited adult or approved pediatric interventional cardiology training program.
Fellow-in-training membership of SCAI is free and includes a range of benefits including:
- Access to SCAI's extensive conference library
- Discounted registration charges for SCAI SHOCK
- SCAI FIRST - a regional fellows-focused webinar series featuring fellows' case presentations
- Networking opportunities
Apply as soon as accepted to make the most of the discounts to SCAI events and eligibility for free online educational resources.
For fellows-in-training this course provides a solid foundation in the latest science and practice of interventional cardiology, offering a comprehensive online learning opportunity aligned to ACGME/ABIM standards, that includes the most relevant material for board exam preparation, and reinforces the knowledge and skills gained in hands-on education under the guidance of fellowship training faculty.
Course materials are available year-round on a complimentary basis to all SCAI members.
SCAI Fellows Courses
Held annually in December, SCAI Fellows Courses help interventional trainees develop the key abilities they need to become independent-practicing physicians.
- Interventional Cardiology
- Congenital Heart Disease
- Advanced Structural
- Advanced Peripheral
Each course has been designed to help fellows-in-training reach milestones in the following areas: patient care, procedural skills, medical knowledge, professionalism, and practice-based learning and improvement.
Scholarships are available for all fellows whose applications to attend are accepted.
Fellows Summit for Complex Cases
In May at Scientific Sessions, the Fellows Summit for Complex Cases is an opportunity for FiTs to explore their most challenging cases with leading experts in the field and customize their learning experience with symposia, live cases, and other sessions from the main meeting.
SCAI offers eligible applicants that submit a challenging case with complimentary registration, hotel accommodation, and a contribution to travel expenses.
SCAI has provided critical resources as I continue to refine my practice and grow as an early career physician.
