Antiplatelet Therapy and All-cause Mortality after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Insights from the TRITAVI Registry—Coverage of SCAI Scientific Sessions 2025

DAPT TAVI/TAVR/Aortic Valve TAVR

Why is this study important?

The TRITAVI study is an important step in managing antiplatelet agents after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation. It offers a window into real-world data in patients with transfemoral TAVI, no complications, and no other indication for anticoagulation.

What question is this study supposed to answer?

The study compares patients receiving a single antiplatelet agent to patients who were prescribed dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT). The prescription of antiplatelet agents after TAVI is often very provider-dependent and based on little data.

What did the study show?

The data showed that patients receiving DAPT had higher mortality and bleeding risk. This risk was not at the expense of less ischemic events, as the DAPT group had higher ischemic event rate as well. More prospective data will be needed to fully answer this important question. However, real-world data does favor treatment with single platelet agent.
