Arash Salavitabar, MD, FSCAI | SCAI

Arash Salavitabar, MD, FSCAI is a congenital interventional cardiologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Pennsylvania State University, after which he completed his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. He then went on to complete his advanced fellowship in Congenital Interventional Cardiology at Nationwide Children's Hospital.   

Dr. Salavitabar has served on the SCAI Congenital Heart Disease Council for the past three years, during which he led its Research Workgroup, met with the FDA to discuss recommendations on post-iodinated contrast-associated thyroid function monitoring, and initiated the SCAI CHD Research Forum. He additionally serves in leadership positions within multiple other national societies. He is currently a primary and co-investigator in multiple multi-center studies, and his research interests include the study of high-risk interventions in neonatal congenital heart disease, outcomes of transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation and stent angioplasty of aortic coarctation, development of transcatheter closure devices, implantable hemodynamic monitoring devices, and large animal research. He is leading efforts in the development and use of extended reality technologies for periprocedural guidance, simulation, medical education, and patient counseling as Director of The Heart Center XR Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.   

Dr. Salavitabar spends his time outside of the hospital with his children, Naveed and Mila, and his wife, Kate.
