Brian Lima, MD, is a cardiac surgeon and Surgical Director of Heart Transplant and MCS at Medical City Dallas and a National Physician Director in Cardiothoracic Surgery for HCA Healthcare. Before joining HCA Healthcare, Dr. Lima was the Surgical Director of Heart Transplantation at Northwell Health, successfully leading the first and only heart transplant program on Long Island (NY). He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency. Dr. Lima obtained heart surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic. He is active in clinical research, has published nearly 100 articles in peer-review journals, and presented at numerous national and international conferences. Locally, he is the Surgical Director of Heart Transplant & MCS at Medical City Dallas. Dr. Lima’s clinical interests include heart transplants, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support (MCS). He is board certified in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery.
Dr. Lima received a number of awards during his years of training and, in 2022, received the Outstanding Hospital Practitioner award from the D CEO Magazine annual Excellence in Healthcare Awards program. He is also a bestselling author of Heart to Beat.
