Physicians are continually challenged to distinguish themselves and enhance patient care in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. The American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM) is committed to improving the quality of care for venous and lymphatic patients through rigorous testing, reliable certification, and improved professional standards in venous and lymphatic medicine (VLM).
Since its inception in 2007, over 900 physicians have successfully completed the ABVLM certification process, demonstrating their commitment to excellence in patient care by enriching their core knowledge through ongoing, real-time, and continuing educational opportunities. Physicians pursuing certification not only benefit from ongoing education but also from the vibrant professional community fostered by those who have previously been certified.
Beyond serving as a recognized home for VLM, certified physicians enjoy increased visibility on the ABVLM “Find a Physician” website and are highlighted on the AVLS “Find a provider” webpage for extended professional reach, making them easily accessible to patients in need of their specialized expertise.
Meet Dr. Attaran, ABVLM Director
Robert Attaran, MBBS, specializes in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He is experienced in performing minimally invasive procedures for treating vascular diseases.
Recognizing an educational deficiency in the fundamentals of VLM, Dr. Attaran took advantage of the opportunity to overcome the limitations that many physicians face by applying to sit for the ABVLM certification exam.“Most interventional cardiologists never received extensive education in the fundamentals,” says Dr. Attaran. “One important way I feel I can bridge that gap is to study for and take the ABVLM certification exam.”
By pursuing ABVLM certification, Dr. Attaran not only seeks to elevate his own practice but contributes significantly to the broader medical community. “As an interventional cardiologist involved in the area of venous disease, I have witnessed how easy it can be to practice in a bubble,” he says.
Dr. Attaran’s decision to pursue ABVLM certification speaks to his commitment to expanding his knowledge and bringing quality care to his patients. Join the community of nearly 1,000 physicians who have committed to advancing VLM best practices by applying for ABVLM certification in 2024.
