MedPAC Releases June Report to Congress | SCAI

In its June 2022 report to Congress, MedPAC addresses streamlining the number of alternative payment models currently available and aligning fee-for-service payment across ambulatory settings. MedPAC recommends the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) use a population-based approach to reducing the number of available alternate payment models. The report also suggests that episode-based models for certain conditions become mandatory. Finally, MedPAC recommends that CMS reduce payments under the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) for services that are currently paid less when performed in physician offices. SCAI will continue to monitor these developments.
