MedStar Cardiovascular Research Network Selected by Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions to Manage New Quality Improvement and Research Platform | SCAI

WASHINGTON – David Cox, MD, MSCAI, President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), and Ron Waksman, MD, FSCAI, Director of MedStar Cardiovascular Research Network (MCRN) announced today at the Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) 2019 meeting in Washington, DC a joint venture for MedStar to manage the data warehousing and analysis services for clinical, procedural, and outcomes data for SCAI’s quality improvement and research initiatives.

“We chose MCRN to provide data collection and data analysis for SCAI’s quality improvement and research initiatives as they have a proven track record in cardiovascular research and large-scale clinical trials,” says David Cox, MD, MSCAI. “It’s a natural fit for the work we do at SCAI.”

“I’m excited to announce this venture for MCRN to partner with SCAI for this transformative work.  Our interventional community is looking for leadership within areas such as mechanical circulatory support, Patent Foramen Ovale closure, and pulmonary embolism treatment response.  Such objective data collection and research questions supported by SCAI will benefit the interventional cardiology community and our patients,” Ron Waksman, MD said.
