Megha Prasad, MD, MS | SCAI

Megha Prasad, MD, MS, is an interventional cardiologist and the director of the cardiorenal program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California and a master's in Clinical Research and Translational Science from Mayo Clinic Rochester. Dr. Prasad completed her internal medicine and cardiology training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and her interventional cardiology training at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. She further honed her skills with advanced training in complex and high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions and mechanical circulatory support at Columbia.  She then joined the faculty at Columbia University as a high-risk interventional cardiologist and director of cardiorenal medicine and interventions. Dr. Prasad has an interest in coronary physiology and imaging, authoring  > 100 peer-reviewed publications and is a leader in the field of low contrast PCI and coronary physiology/microvascular dysfunction.  

In 2024, Dr. Nathan was the recipient of the SCAI-Edwards Lifesciences Early Career Research Grant for his project, Variation in the Distribution of Social Determinants of Health for Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement at 1-, 2- or 3-Star Programs.

In 2019, Dr. Prasad was announced as the SCAI-WIN CHIP Fellowship winner. The $100,000 fellowship, made possible by a grant from Abiomed, was offered to interventional cardiology fellows or practicing interventional cardiologists interested in pursuing an additional year of advanced training focusing on complex and high-risk interventional procedures (CHIP) and percutaneous acute mechanical circulatory support.
