SAN FRANCISCO – Amy Cheney, MD, an interventional cardiology fellow at the University of Washington has been selected as the recipient of the SCAI-Women in Innovations (SCAI-WIN) CHIP Fellowship, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions announced today.

The $90,000 fellowship opportunity was made possible by support from Abiomed (founding supporter) and Boston Scientific, and was offered to interventional cardiology (IC) fellows or  practicing interventional cardiologists interested in pursuing an additional year of advanced training (beyond traditional IC fellowships) focusing on complex and high-risk interventional procedures (CHIP) and percutaneous acute mechanical circulatory support training in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.

"Dr. Amy Cheney was selected from a group of highly accomplished interventional fellows for the SCAI WIN CHIP Fellowship award. She has demonstrated commitment to the treatment of patients with complex coronary disease, a spirit of investigation, and has tremendous support and mentorship from her institution. We are looking forward to following her career," said J. Dawn Abbott, MD, FSCAI, chair of SCAI-WIN.

Dr. Cheney is currently an interventional cardiology fellow at the University of Washington. She completed her general cardiology fellowship also at the University of Washington, and residency at the University of California, Davis. She has a medical degree from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whitman College.
