The Society for Cardiovascular and Angiography Interventions (SCAI), the world-leading society for interventional and invasive cardiology, is pleased to announce the launch of its new scientific journal: the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (JSCAI).
The new SCAI journal will begin publication in January 2022.
JSCAI will provide the latest clinical research, first-in-human studies, and other original research on interventional therapies, diagnostic modalities and innovations across the spectrum of ischemic heart disease, complex coronary disease, pediatric and adult congenital heart disease, structural and valvular disease, and peripheral vascular disease.
It will also be the home for all of SCAI’s clinical guidelines and expert consensus documents and publications.
In addition, it will serve physicians/medical practitioners in all areas of interventional cardiology, including the cross-disciplinary team in the cath lab, clinical scientists, healthcare providers, and the public interested in scientific and clinical information.
The new journal will be led by Founding Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Lansky, MD, FSCAI, Director of the Yale Heart and Vascular Clinical Research Program and the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center, Professor of Medicine in the Section of Cardiology at the Yale School of Medicine, Chair of Cardiovascular Research at Queen Mary University in London and a practicing cardiologist at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
SCAI President Dr. Cindy Grines, MSCAI, is proud to have Dr. Lansky lead the Society’s new journal: “The role of Editor-in-Chief of a new journal is incredibly important. Dr. Lansky brings her considerable expertise and extensive experience conducting national and international clinical trials with specific expertise in the evaluation of interventional devices, which is going to be invaluable to building a journal worthy of the SCAI name”.
Dr. Tim Henry, MSCAI, incoming SCAI President (2021–22) agrees: “Having authored and coauthored over 500 academic peer-reviewed manuscripts in the fields of interventional cardiology, angiography, and women’s cardiovascular health, Dr. Lansky has the perfect mix of a practicing cardiologist and research experience to assume the leadership of the new SCAI journal at its inception.”
Dr. Lansky will oversee the rigorous and rapid selection, peer-review, publication, and broad dissemination of primary research, clinical guidelines, consensus documents, and commissioned content. Dr. Lansky emphasized that “Review articles of clinical importance will be welcome, and we hope to provide a global perspective wherever possible. JSCAI will complement and strengthen the Society’s important educational and academic footprint for SCAI members and practicing interventional cardiologists the world over. I am excited to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief for such an important endeavor.”
JSCAI will be an open access gold journal, available online in partnership with one of the leading medical publishers in the world. The journal will follow the Article-based Publishing model, allowing papers to appear fully citable online just shortly after acceptance.
