SCAI Comments to CMS: 2020 HOPPS-ASC Proposed Rule—PCI in the Ambulatory Surgical Center, Non-Hospital Setting | SCAI

SCAI submits comments to CMS on the 2020 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System—Ambulatory Surgical Centers (HOPPS-ASC) proposed rule stating support for the addition of percutaneous coronary angioplasty (PCI) in the ASC setting while urging CMS to focus on quality and patient safety. However, SCAI does not support the addition of more complex PCI procedures to be performed in the ASC setting presently as these more complex procedures might be associated with higher rates of complications in Medicare populations.
