The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have opened comments on their National Coverage Determination (NCD) for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) of the Carotid Artery Concurrent with Stenting.
CMS has opened comments following a request from the Multispecialty Carotid Alliance (MSCA) to make the guidelines less restrictive.
SCAI strongly supported the request to broaden Medicare beneficiary access to PTA and carotid artery stenting (CAS) and to remove facility and operator requirements consistent with the current state of the published literature and standard clinical practice.
Anyone can view completed comments on the CMS website.
