SCAI Congratulates ABC on Its 50th Anniversary | SCAI

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) celebrates the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) on its 50th anniversary. Since its founding in 1974, ABC has been a leading voice for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of cardiology and advancing the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases among African Americans and other minorities.

"SCAI is honored to celebrate this milestone with ABC and to recognize its achievements and contributions over the past five decades," said SCAI President Dr. James B. Hermiller, MD, MSCAI. "SCAI and ABC share a common mission of improving the quality of care and outcomes for patients with cardiovascular diseases through education, research, and advocacy. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and friendship with ABC for many more years to come."

SCAI is proud to collaborate with ABC in the area of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)—which disproportionately affects Black people—as founding members of the PAD Pulse Alliance. The initiative aims to empower affected communities with information to help them “kick off the conversation” with their doctor.
