Noridian, the Medicare Administrative Contractor for 12 states has proposed an expanded coverage of non-invasive FFR but this coverage policy would ban the coverage of invasive FFR when a non-invasive test is performed first.

SCAI has spoken against this restriction on a conference call with the Contractor’s Medical Director and has followed up with this letter. We have also reached out to other groups such as the Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and the sole provider of this service (HeartFlow) and both report that they will join us in opposition to this ban on invasive FFR. The MAC does not have a firm deadline for announcing its final coverage policy.
