SCAI, joining with the Regulatory Relief Coalition (RRC) and RRC Allies, signed a letter to House and Senate leadership strongly urging them to include the “Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act” (H.R. 3173/S. 3018) in any year-end legislative package under development by the House and Senate.
The House unanimously passed a Medicare Advantage (M.A.) prior authorization reform bill in September, but it faces hurdles due to a high budget estimate, also known as a CBO score. Reports from the Administration strongly suggest that CMS may address this critical issue through regulation without budget impact shortly. In the meantime, this legislation is unique in its solid bipartisan support and extensive support from all sectors of the healthcare community. In addition, Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), recently before the Senate HELP Committee, said that he believes the bill should be included in any end-of-the-year efforts to improve mental health.
