SCAI Statement on Recent U.S. Presidential Executive Order on Immigration | SCAI

The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) stands with its members from across the globe in support of policies which allow our members and all healthcare professionals to deliver proper, effective, and timely care of the highest quality. Currently, approximately 25% of medical providers in the United States originate from foreign countries. These caregivers are a needed and welcome force in the fight against cardiovascular disease. Gains we have made in fighting cardiovascular disease, especially rampant in rural areas, may suffer if providers of all backgrounds feel unwelcome.

In addition, we believe that policies should be promoted which protect and enhance the ability for all in the medical community to pursue scientific research which has dramatically lowered the incidence of cardiovascular events and continues to unearth important discoveries that improve the human condition. These policies require respect, recognition, and collaboration of the global community. SCAI is proud of its diverse, international membership of interventional cardiologists and cardiovascular professionals. We know that cardiovascular disease and the knowledge to fight it knows no borders. Thus, SCAI will continue to provide educational resources to our membership around the world as we uphold our mission to Save and Enhance Lives.
