The formal application seeking the creation of a new, independent Board of Cardiovascular Medicine has been submitted to the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). As part of this process, ABMS has launched a 90-day Public Comment Period seeking input on the new Board that runs now through July 24. The Public Comment Period is an important opportunity for the cardiovascular community, hospitals and health systems, patients and other stakeholders to engage in the decision-making process and highlight the value the new, independent Board will bring to cardiovascular clinicians and, more importantly, patients.
