I am an interventional cardiologist with additional training in structural heart interventions, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation, and I am currently an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Based on my expertise, I was appointed the director of structural heart interventions at the Center for Advanced Heart Failure at the University of Texas and have led the program to be one of the highest volume TAVR sites in the country and one of only four hospitals in the country and only one in Texas to have a “three-star” rating for quality outcomes in TAVR.
As the director for structural heart interventions, I have spearheaded device interventions in patients with advanced heart failure as well as cardiogenic shock. I have been able to bring several clinical trials in aortic, mitral, and tricuspid interventions to our institution and have been a high enroller in several of these studies as the site principal investigator. I was the first physician to begin the pulmonary embolism interventions in Houston and lead the PERT team at our institution. I have also had the opportunity to publish several manuscripts in leading cardiology journals and books, of which several have been cited in international guidelines.
