Yulanka Castro, MD, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute and clinical assistant professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University. She serves as the associate director of quality for the Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Castro is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. She earned her medical degree with honors as valedictorian of her graduating class from the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic. She completed an internal medicine residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School before completing three fellowships – cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and peripheral vascular medicine – at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. Castro is passionate about addressing health disparities in vascular care for underserved populations through health services research and patient education. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Castro is a researcher and educator, an invited speaker at national and international conferences, and author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts.
