David T. Balzer, MD, MSCAI | SCAI

Dr. Balzer received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He attended medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine and did his pediatrics residency at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. He was a pediatrician in the Air Force for three years following his residency. He then did a cardiology fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. He has been an attending physician at Washington University School of Medicine/St. Louis Children's Hospital since the completion of his fellowship. Dr. Balzer is currently the Director of the cardiac cath lab at St. Louis Children's Hospital. He has been actively involved in teaching and research for 30 years and has been the institutional principal investigator on numerous multi-center device trials. He is currently the national Principal Investigator (PI) for the Harmony post-approval study and the institutional PI for the Alterra post-approval study. In addition, he has trained numerous pediatric categorical and interventional fellows. In his spare time, he enjoys bike rides exploring St. Louis, pickleball and golf.
