Devraj Sukul, MD, MSc, FSCAI | SCAI

Dr. Sukul is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Michigan, Director of Clinical Quality and Outcomes for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Associate Director of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Cardiovascular Consortium (BMC2). After completing his general cardiology, health services research, and interventional cardiology training at the University of Michigan in 2019, he joined the faculty at the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. Over the past 4 years, he has grown as a clinical cardiologist, researcher, educator, and director of quality improvement. He is particularly passionate about understanding and improving patient quality and outcomes.

As Director of the quality improvement team in the catheterization lab at Michigan Medicine, the team has implemented multiple quality improvement projects over the past 3 years, such as facilitating the escalation of lipid-lowering therapies among patients with coronary artery disease, improving the rate of SGLT2 inhibitor and GLP-1 receptor agonist prescription among type 2 diabetics with coronary artery disease; and increasing the rate of intracoronary imaging use to guide optimal PCI. As Associate Director of BMC2, he had the privilege of working with catheterization laboratory directors throughout Michigan to improve the quality of interventional cardiology care across the state. He is honored to be in a position where he can not only positively affect clinical care through quality improvement but also continually learn from those around him. He hopes to continue to cultivate a career where he can impact patient care through quality improvement, research, and clinical care.
