Dear Colleagues,
Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2, the “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act,” which includes a full repeal of the sustainable growth rate (SGR). This is the first time in nearly 20 years that we have come so close to fixing the deeply flawed system that drives physician reimbursement and threatens to limit beneficiaries’ access to care.
SCAI, like the rest of the House of Medicine, has been advocating to fix the SGR for years. You can help to push the repeal across the finish line. Here’s how:
The U.S. Senate needs to pass the “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act” before the April Recess. Contact the Senators who represent you. Please urge them to vote “YES” on H.R. 2.
If you are not sure how to contact your Senators, use the AMA’s toll-free Grassroots Hotline: 1-800-833-6354.
Contact me anytime at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Charles Chambers, MD, FSCAI
SCAI President, 2014-15
