Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, Dr. Snyder has practiced with HeartPlace Dallas since 1996. He received his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School where he also completed his residency and fellowship. A past member of the Board of Directors for the UT Southwestern Medical Foundation, he currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Medical Association.

At Medical City Dallas, Dr. Snyder has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine, President of the Medical Staff and on the Board of Trustees. He is also a leader in his professional societies. On the national level, at the American College of Cardiology in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Board of Governors and the Quality Strategic Directions Committee. More locally, he was President of the Texas chapter of the American College of Cardiology in Austin for three years. Most recently, in 2012, as President of the Dallas County Medical Society, he helped lead Dallas County’s response to the West Nile epidemic. Quoting Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins: "Few leaders affect public health in their lives as much as Dr. Snyder did the year he served as President of the Dallas County Medical Society...Based largely on the advocacy of a physician leader I'd never met before the afternoon of my decision, I declared a State of Emergency and ordered aerial spraying in Dallas County for the first time since 1966."

This year, Dr. Snyder continues to serve DCMS as a member of the North Texas Mass Casualty Critical Task Force, and as a member of the Dallas County Health and Human Services Public Health Advisory Committee. Additionally, Dr. Snyder is a member of the Contractor Advisory Committee for Novitas, the local Medicare administrator for the Texas region. He is also currently President for both HeartPlace and Cardiovascular Provider Resources.  This year Dr. Snyder also adds a new role as chairman of the board of Directors of Aspen Physician Network, PLLC. Aspen is a network of over 400 independent specialty physicians serving North Texas whose goal is to achieve better patient care and outcomes at a lower cost to employers, payers, and patients.

Dr. Snyder is particularly active in medical advocacy and serves on the board of directors for the political action committees for both the American College of Cardiology and Texas Medical Association, ACCPAC and TexPAC. He furthermore is legislative chairman for the Texas Chapter American College of Cardiology and is vice chairman for the National Physician Council for Health Care Policy in DC  “The classic vision of a doctor as an advocate for our patients has to be much more than just words. We physicians will have almost as much impact on the care our patients receive in legislative chambers and regulators’ offices as exam rooms and operating rooms,” he says. “As clinicians, we treat one patient at a time, but as physician advocates, we can help everyone.”
