John C. Messenger, MD, MSCAI | SCAI

John C. Messenger, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he has been since 1999.  He currently serves as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Director of the Cardiovascular ICU at the University of Colorado Hospital.  He also practices at the Denver VA Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Colorado.  In addition, he has been the Program Director for the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at the University of Colorado since 2005.   His research interests include simulation training in cardiology, pharmacological therapies for acute coronary syndromes, novel treatments for acute myocardial infarction as well as health services research in interventional cardiology.   

He currently serves on the Executive Council of the SCAI Simulation Committee and serves on the Publications Committee.  He served as the Chair of the Simulation Committee from 2010-2014. He is Course Co-Director for the SCAI Fall Fellows Course from 2016-2018.  He has been grant-funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to evaluate and provide training for AMI care for rural hospitals using simulation training.
