Dr. Duffy joined SCAI in 1998 as a member and advanced to Fellowship that same year. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Georgetown University and the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1985. He relocated to Clarksburg, WV to establish the cath lab at United Hospital Center and while there was privileged to serve on the faculty of the medical schools at West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh. He has been based in Pinehurst, NC since 1996 where he founded Pinehurst Cardiology Consultants and subsequently was Medical Director of the Reid Heart Center at FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
He earned his Masters of Medical Management (MMM) degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009 where he focused on health care quality and physician leadership. He was named a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the American Academy for Physician Leadership in 2012.
Dr. Duffy has served SCAI in numerous roles including being Chair of the Advocacy (now Government Relations) Committee and has served on the Board of Trustees and in numerous capacities on the Executive Committee since 2014. He is Chair of SCAI’s Cath Lab Survey program. He currently serves as Treasurer of SCAI and is the SCAI representative to the CMS Hospital Outpatient Payment Program and on the Ambulatory Surgical Center/Hospital Outpatient Department Measure Development Committee for CMS. Additionally, he is the SCAI representative on the NCDR Management Board.
Currently, he works as a full-time Locum Tenens Interventional Cardiologist and focuses on Cardiovascular Service Line development and cath lab quality.
He lives in Pinehurst NC where he enjoys golf, running, reading, and spending time with his family.
