Congenital

Join Me in Washington, DC

With the rapid development of new transcatheter devices and techniques for the treatment of congenital heart disease, I’m excited about this year’s CHD track.

The sessions and live cases will focus on a broad range of topics, beginning with the basics (imaging) and progressing to the more unusual, such as aortic and mitral and tricuspid valve interventions in congenital heart disease patients.

In addition, we will have a luminaries’ session where five world-renowned interventionalists will share their life experiences with the attendees.

Congenital Heart Disease Track Director

Overview

This track is dedicated to congenital interventional cardiology and will employ didactics, case-based learning, and group discussions to enhance expertise through collaborative and interactive learning.

Attendees will acquire take-home knowledge for navigating complex cases, maximizing procedural success, and minimizing complications.

Target Audience

This track will appeal to trainees, early-career physicians, experienced practitioners of congenital interventional cardiology, and structural interventionalists with expertise in valve technology.

Learning Objectives

After attending SCAI Scientific Sessions, the learner will be able to:

  • Apply imaging techniques for pre-, intra-, and post-procedural assessment of congenital cardiac lesions.
  • Implement VSD closure techniques, including device selection for perimembranous and muscular ventricular septal defects using transcatheter and perventricular approaches.
  • Evaluate clinical approaches in various cardiac scenarios, utilizing AI, vascular occlusion devices, electro-surgery, and lymphatic management strategies.
  • Assess pulmonary valve technologies for optimal timing, effectiveness of different valves, and their impact on patient outcomes.
  • Understand advanced percutaneous valve interventions for tricuspid, aortic and mitral valves, including valve-in-valve approaches.
  • Manage PDA stenting procedures, addressing imaging, stent sizing, branch PA growth, re-intervention strategies, and management of jailed branches.
Program Highlights
Imaging: The Crux of Intervention Success

This session will focus on imaging related to interventions. We will focus on pre-, intra-, and post-procedure assessment of congenital cardiac lesions.

Luminaries Session: Five Most Important Lessons I Learned During My 30 Years of Practice

In this session, senior ICs will share valuable lessons learned from their extensive practices and ongoing experiences. Attendees will gain practical insights and life lessons from a cumulative 180 years of cardiology expertise, providing actionable takeaways for their professional development.

After this session, join us at SCAI Central and meet our CHD luminaries.

Valve Techniques: Beyond Pulmonary Valves

This session will cover advanced percutaneous valve techniques beyond pulmonary valves, including tricuspid and mitral valve interventions, with a focus on procedures such as tricuspid valve interventions in complex conditions, mitral valve clips and valve-in-valve approaches, and the Lampoon procedure for mitral valve preparation.
