Giorgio A. Medranda, MD, is a board-certified Interventional Cardiologist at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island and Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine. Dr. Medranda was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, receiving his medical school training at Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He completed Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at NYU Langone Hospital — Long Island.
Dr. Medranda joined NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island in 2022 after completing a two-year interventional cardiology fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He is considered a well-rounded and well-trained interventional cardiologist, given the extensive clinical training he has received in addition to his numerous board certifications across cardiology (cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular, cardiac computed tomography, and interventional cardiology). At NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, Dr. Medranda practices as a coronary and structural interventionalist, while training cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology fellows.
Dr. Medranda’s research interests have centered on coronary and structural interventions. He has served on several steering, clinical event, and publication committees in addition to spearheading multiple simultaneous research projects which have been presented at numerous international cardiology conferences. These opportunities have yielded over 60 peer-reviewed publications during the early stages of his career. This has resulted in invitations to participate as a reviewer for CCI, CRM, JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, and most recently for JSCAI as part of the JSCAI Editorial Fellowship Program. Furthermore, Dr. Medranda currently serves on the editorial board for CRM and holds the position of social medial liaison, expanding the digital footprint of the journal and increasing viewership. He has been recognized as faculty at several conferences, including CRT, ACC, SCAI, TVT, EPIC-SEC, TCT, and AHA. As a result of his success and involvement with CRT, Dr. Medranda currently serves on the planning, abstract grading, and late-breaking trial grading committees. Furthermore, in 2023 he was nominated to participate in the CRT 2023 Young Leadership Recognition Program, which recognizes future clinical and academic excellence in physicians practicing interventional cardiology early in their careers. Dr. Medranda is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and currently serves on the New York ACC Early Career and ACC Research Fellowship Awards Committees. At NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island, Dr. Medranda has expanded these activities while training fellows and actively enrolling in clinical trials (APOLLO Trial, PROGRESS Trial, HARP Trial, and MVSS Registry) as a co-investigator.
